What are the ways in which hubs are made?

Manufacturing method of wheel hub:

There are three manufacturing methods for aluminum alloy wheel hubs: gravity casting, forging and low-pressure precision casting.

1. The gravity casting method uses gravity to pour the aluminum alloy solution into the mold, and after forming, it is processed and polished by the lathe, then the production can be completed. The manufacturing process is simple, does not need the precise casting process, the cost is low and the production efficiency is high, but is easy to produce the bubble (sandhole), the density is not uniform, the surface smoothness is not enough. Quite a number of Geely models are equipped with wheel hubs produced in this way, mainly models produced in the early stage, and most of the new models have been replaced with new wheels.

2. One thousand tons of press forging method of the whole piece of aluminum ingots by direct extrusion on mould, benefit is uniform density, surface smooth and detailed, wheel hub wall thin and light weight, strength of materials, the highest three than casting methods as above, but due to more sophisticated production equipment, and yield is only 5 to sixty percent, the manufacturing cost is higher.

3. Low pressure precision casting method is precision casting at low pressure of 0.1mpa. With good formability, clear contour, uniform density and smooth surface, this casting method can not only achieve high strength, light weight, but also control the cost.
